Admissions

Application Process

To be considered for admission to the MSN program, the student must complete the following:

1. A baccalaureate degree in nursing from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited school of nursing.
   Official transcripts from all institutions attended should be sent to the MCHS Admissions.
   
   Send transcripts via e-script to mchsadmissions@umhb.edu OR
   Send transcripts by mail to:

2. Current, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas or as exempted as a federal employee.
3. Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 in last 60 hours of undergraduate program (BSN). GPA of 2.75-2.99 will be considered for probationary admission, and any GPA from 2.5 to 2.74 would require approval of the Director of Graduate Studies.
   
4. Completion of the and the $35 application fee.
5. Minimum of 1 year of full time clinical practice as a registered nurse prior to admission in the clinical area selected as the area of clinical specialization.
