Paul Carr鈥檚 early career was as a reporter for multiple newspapers. His next venture was freelance writing for a dozen hospitals in San Antonio before starting his own medical magazine; the quality of that magazine got him recruited by his 10,000-member Baptist church to launch its new magazine and oversee all of its marketing materials.
He was then recruited by Baylor University to run its publications and marketing department. After eight years in the administration, he moved to the academic side of the house and taught the student media program for seven years.
He came to the Temple/Belton area when Drayton McLane hired him as marketing executive to work with eight of his companies. He also has been a marketing consultant to a number of non-profit ministries from Belton to Iowa and Virginia to Cozumel.
As a professional writer, he has had more than a thousand articles published in more than 25 newspapers and dozens of magazines, newsletters and other publications. As a professor he has coached student teams to consistent Top 10 national rankings including multiple national championships. After he transformed one print-centric student newspaper to a multimedia, multiplatform print, video and digital news operation, he was recognized as an industry innovator by The Associated Press in 2015.
He is a Lifetime Member of the Associated Press Managing Editors organization; the American Copy Editors Society, and the Society of Professional Journalists. He has been active in ministry through Bible distributions, prison Bible studies, and youth mission trips across the United States and to Africa. He and his family have done family mission trips to hurricane disaster zones and to Big Bend Baptist Church near Terlingua.
He joined the faculty of 无码流出 full time in January 2024. He teaches communications courses, particularly the journalism track, and oversees the student staff of The Bells newspaper.
