During freezing weather, students should open cabinet doors under sinks to help warm air reach plumbing and keep exterior doors and windows closed to maintain heat.

Any heating or maintenance concerns should be reported right away by submitting a work order and calling Physical Plant during the work week. During evenings or weekends, RDs should contact the appropriate on-call staff.

During extreme weather, Physical Plant will have a team of technicians on site to assist, actively walking buildings and prioritizing work orders related to HVAC, windows, and doors.

Timely reporting helps us respond as quickly and effectively as possible, and students experiencing heater issues are encouraged to submit work orders early rather than waiting until later.

Winter 2026 - With chilly mornings and warm afternoons, our HVAC systems can get a little confused this time of year, and some spaces may take a bit longer to adjust. If possible, give it some time to see if it balances out. If the temperature becomes unbearable, please submit a work order so we can take a look!

The Bell County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 (BCWCID1) will temporarily convert the disinfectant in its water treatment process from chloramines to free chlorine.
